SELF REFLECTION

Growth as a Writer

Looking back on my writing journey, I see how much I’ve grown through the assignments and reflections I’ve completed. Each task challenged me in a unique way, helping me develop skills I didn’t realize I needed. From staying organized to connecting with an audience, I’ve learned valuable lessons that have shaped me into a more confident and capable writer.

Struggles and Growth

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of staying on track with my work. Writing semi-weekly reflections helped me hold myself accountable and figure out where I needed to improve. These reflections kept me focused and gave me a clear sense of direction when I felt overwhelmed. They also showed me the importance of setting small, achievable goals to make steady progress.

Working on vignettes was a completely different kind of challenge. Writing them taught me how small details—like tone, word choice, or imagery—can bring a story to life. It also helped me understand how these elements work together to create emotion or meaning. Practicing these techniques made me more intentional about how I use language in my writing.

The peer reflections were an eye-opener for me. At first, it was difficult to accept feedback from others. I worried about being judged, but over time, I realized how valuable it is to see my work through someone else’s eyes. Honest feedback from my peers helped me notice areas where I could improve, like clarifying my ideas or organizing my thoughts more effectively. It also taught me that writing isn’t just a solo activity—it’s about connecting with readers and making sure my message is clear.

The LA outline and essay taught me how to plan more effectively. Before, I’d often start writing without much thought, only to get stuck halfway through. Learning how to outline changed that. Outlining gave me a structure to follow and made the whole process feel more manageable. It also helped me stay focused on my main points, which improved the flow of my essays.

Tackling my first annotated bibliography and research paper was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a writer. I had never worked with sources or citations before, and I wasn’t sure where to start. At first, it was overwhelming, but I learned how to find credible information, organize it, and use it to back up my points

Well this is me
